“Escalada 33 Flowers” by Diana Magallón
An Introduction

In this issue of The Acentos Review, an elder offers us her reminiscences of her youth (Rosa Lidia Gonzalez, 94 years young), the art of the guru is explored through the lenses of nieta and abuela, Diana Magallón takes us on a whimsical journey using a limited color palette that is surprising and illuminating, characters from life leap into the literary world and out again, and student-poet-editors explore their contributions to the literary arts by founding Verso y Flor ... and that is only a short synopsis of this dynamic issue.

UPDATE

The Acentos Review continues to grow. In June, we will celebrate 4 years of publishing. In the coming months, The Acentos Review will be starting the nonprofit process with an incredibly invested board, dedicated to the sustainability and the continued growth of this institution. We will also see a preparation for our first anthology to be published in print and online to represent our first 5 years.

Also of note, the August 2012 issue is scheduled to be devoted to MUSIC. Submissions should address that theme. While submissions on any subject in literary and artistic genres will be taken on Submittable, over 70% of the journal will be devoted to that theme. The issue will be guest edited by Bonafide Rojas.

The November 2012 issue is scheduled to be a YOUTH issue. Submissions by Latinas and Latinos under 25 are especially sought. While submissions on any subject in literary and artistic genres and by all ages will be taken on Submittable, over 70% of the journal will be devoted to that theme. The issue will have a guest editor (TBA).
